LMJ Volunteers at Island Harvest’s Stamp out Hunger Event
On Tuesday, May 13th, the LMJ team volunteered at Island Harvest to help sort and pack thousands of pounds of donated food collected through Stamp Out Hunger, the largest one-day food drive in the country. The National Association of Letter Carriers invited Long Island residents to leave non-perishable food items by their mailboxes for Stamp Out Hunger. These donations were collected and delivered to Island Harvest Food Bank where volunteers including LMJ sorted, repacked, and distributed to neighbors in need.
Island Harvest Food Bank is a leading hunger-relief organization with a mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. Through a variation of efforts, Island Harvest accomplishes their goals through food donations, and distributions, hunger awareness, outreach and advocacy.
